Trout-lily time

Today at Lake Katharine: trout-lily time! Those lovely yellow nodding blossoms were everywhere, and down in the mud flats near Salt Creek I saw three trout lilies with white blossoms, which I've never encountered before. Trilliums are just beginning to blossom and a few bluebells are opening up and attracting pollinators. I pity the people who can't get out in the woods while spring ephemerals are blooming because if you wait a few days, you'll miss 'em. Why can't I have a sabbatical every spring?

From the back, the petals look like they're trying to tie themselves up in knots.

White trout lily!
